Ministry of Finance and UN Women will collaborate on gender-responsive budgeting
Cooperation will take place through a Memorandum of Understanding between UN Women and Moldova’s Ministry of Finance for a period of three years.
The document, signed at the Ministry of Finance by Minister Veronica Sirețeanu and UN Women Moldova Country Representative Dominika Stojanoska, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions on frameworks to support the integration of gender-sensitive budgeting into existing policy and budget planning processes.
Through mutual collaboration and continuous commitment to cooperation, the Ministry of Finance and UN Women will join forces to carry out several activities to support the development of gender-sensitive public finance management.
These efforts will include the capacity building of officials within the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministries. This commitment will also involve aligning Moldova’s national legislation and policies with international norms and standards on advancing and implementing gender-sensitive budgeting within public finance management systems, as prescribed in the recommendations of international bodies.
