Accelerating support for women’s participation

As a funding mechanism designed to support women-led and women’s rights organisations in crisis settings and following the invasion of the Ukraine by the Russian government in February 2022, UN Women Moldova has as of February 2023 signed partner agreements with 18 local and national civil society organizations (CSOs) and women’s rights organizations/women-led organizations to be supported by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), implementing overall 20 projects in 2022 and 2023. As over 97% of refugees live with or amongst the host communities in Moldova3, involving community-based and grassroots organizations in the refugee response is critical. Through the partnership with WPHF, UN Women Moldova is providing institutional as well as programmatic funding to these partners to support the refugee response and their involvement in humanitarian coordination structures, which enables the CSOs to increase their capacities to deliver services, goods, and resources to women in humanitarian settings and to monitor the quality of services, goods, and resources with the refugees’ needs.
