Until recently, there were few women beekeepers in the Republic of Moldova, but there has been a recent buzz in activity. Gradually managing to ‘tame’ the bees and overcome stereotypes, today roughly 8 per cent of the 7,696 apiaries listed in the National Food Safety Agency’s National Register of Beekeepers are kept by women.

Women from Boscana commune, together with women refugees from Ukraine, have organised a cultural activity to get to know each other better and exchange traditions and customs, at the initiative of the Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM), with support from UN Women and financial contribution from Sweden. It was the first time when women refugees accommodated in the commune managed to meet one another, share information, concerns and contacts. Boscana inhabitants also had the opportunity to become acquainted with women refugees who have been living in their commune for over two months.

She is the President of EcoLocal - Association of Organic and Artisanal Producers and Consumers of Moldova. Tamara has always been immersed in nature. Viorelia Chistruga is a 17 years old student from Birnova village, Ocnita district, a member of district youth council in the same locality. In the past years a number of provisions aiming at facilitating the access for parents to the labour market have been adopted at the national level. However, parents still face different difficulties in benefiting from new amendments. The main reason is the small number of institutions offering early childhood education.

‘16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence’ Campaign with the topic ‘Orange the World: END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN NOW!’ was inaugurated in Ungheni by holding a public discussion on the role of local authorities in fighting violence against women at the local level. According to statistics, 1 in 3 women was subjected to physical or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime. COVID-19 pandemic worsened the situation of women affected by abuse.
