This simplified version of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) was developed together with survivors of violence from Moldova. The guide contains only some CEDAW articles selected by women survivors of violence and are described from their point of view in order to help other women improve their knowledge and stand for their rights.

In Moldova, violence against women is widespread and systemic phenomenon. According to the research undertaken by the National Bureau of Statistics there are more than 63 percent of women and girls aged 15-65 who have experienced at least one form of violence during their lifetime.

Gender responsive budgeting (GRB) means gender mainstreaming in the budget process, which involves regular assessment and analysis of the budget impact on women and men, corroborated by the analysis and adjustment of relevant policies to reduce gender disparities. This type of budgeting promotes greater accountability on the performance of governments in using public resources by purpose in correlation with the needs of beneficiaries, women and men, girls and boys, and applies the gender mainstreaming in all public policies in accordance with international treaties and national development strategies.
